Briefing on Recolonizing Iota Chi at UConn
No, that headline is not a misprint. UConn’s Center for Fraternity and Sorority Development has an open application period for expansion proposals (i.e., for new organizations or organizations seeking reinstatement). Pike Nationals intends to apply.
The process is competitive and must be supported by the administration and ultimately, the IFC (in our case).
Wondering how you can help? Alumni who have clout with university officials (know staff, donate generously to the UConn Foundation, whose company sponsors some program at the university, etc.), should contact us, so we can add your name as a reference to the application.
The selection process could come down to who knows who and/or how much the university could benefit from the network of the applicant/organization. [Think lifetime fund-raising support from Pike/other fraternity alumni to the university]
If you are interested in receiving a briefing on this initiative, please contact Jeff Shaw. A Zoom call will be scheduled with Pike Nationals soon.
Similarly, Pike Nationals recently launched online Informational Sessions for Volunteers [how about that timing]:

Description: Alumni volunteers are critical to the long-term success of our chapters and our alumni brotherhood. This newly launched session will be offered each fall and spring, and is specifically curated for newly elected and appointed members of Alumni Advisory Boards, Alumni Associations, Housing Corporations and Chapter
Advisors. In addition, anyone interested in exploring or gaining deeper insights into the responsibilities and opportunities of being a volunteer for Pi Kappa Alpha can join.
The call will be hosted by Chief Communications & Alumni Officer Russ Keene (Texas, Beta Mu '80) and Director of Alumni Engagement John Marcone (Northern Arizona, Theta Rho '19), with a welcome by Executive Vice President Justin Buck (Southeast Missouri State, Epsilon Iota '96) and will feature a conversation with 2022-23 PIKE Chapter Advisor of the Year Jack Sword (San Diego State, Delta Kappa '67).
Join to learn more about the ideal structure of various Pike alumni entities, best practices for advisors to impact chapters, new ideas and practices for forming and leading Alumni Associations, and Housing Corporation management trends.
