March 2024 Newsletter

NEW: UConn Pike Text Alerts

Yes, the alumni association just sent you a text.

We are rolling out this new communication feature to reach more alumni and make it easier for you to follow what’s happening.

Don’t worry, we’ll only use text alerts to share bi-monthly newsletters, featured event information and of course, any time UConn hoops sets another all-time record. [Think the last two weeks alone, four records have been set.]

We will continue to use our email distribution list to communicate with you as well.

1, 2, 3, 4… to help you stay informed and connected.

1/ The return of the Iota Chi Chapter (not a typo)

2/ March Madness - UConn 1 Seed

3/ Founder’s Day 2024 recap

4/ Update your contact information, please!

1/ Iota Chi returns to Storrs, Fall 2025

It’s not a typo! The Iota Chi Chapter will be returning to UConn in Fall 2025 after a 10 year hiatus. In the coming months, PIKE Nationals will host a town hall style zoom meeting to discuss details, typical nexts steps, and how alumni can help leading up and after the expansion project.

Stay tuned for more via text alert and email.

2/ This Week: Annual UConn Pikes March Madness Bracket Challenge

To celebrate, the alumni association is launching our annual March Madness Bracket Challenge!

Here’s how it works:

  3. Please name each bracket with your full name and pledge class/initiation year

  4. Depending on participation, the top 3 brackets will get paid out.

Password: Carriage20

3/ 2nd Annual Founder’s Day Hoops & Hops Recap

L to R. Alex Shutak, Matt Adamo, Kevin Penner, Eddy Rodriguez, Ray Yakatis, Nick Carpino, Jeff Shaw, Chris Davis, Greg Johnson, Nolan Davis, Chris Wetzel.

On February 17, a dozen UConn Pikes gathered at Urban Lodge, on Pratt Street in Hartford, ahead of the UConn v Marquette game at the XL Center. An enormous shout-out/thank you to Chris Wetzel, for being in the right place at the right time.

Oh, and that game’s result, UConn won 81-53, the 28-point victory the largest win ever by a No. 1-ranked team over another top-five foe.

4/ Update Your Contact Information

For us to be successful, we need to be able to reach you – email, text, heck, carrier pigeon.

Pike Nationals/MHQ has rolled out a number of resources and services to help alumni associations and chapters. One of those services is a central database for contact information, rather than leaving each organization to figure out how to do it/update it/etc.

This service will save us time (and money) and help us reach more alumni. As you may know, Iota Chi has an insider at Nationals/MHQ, in Bryan Rawlinson (’06), so if you have any questions, let us know. Click here to update your contact information!

See you at our next event!
